Do you have a price list?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions and the truth is, in the custom cake business, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Each custom cake order we receive is unique but to set the expectation our fondant and sculpted cakes start at $300 and adjust based on the number of tiers, customized artistry, delivery and set-up, and other pertinent design and order details. Where are you located?
We are currently based in Bowie, MD.
Pick-up or delivery?
Both are offered. We offer free delivery to addresses within a five mile radius of our location. You may also pick-up if that works better for you.
We typically provide special handling for fondant and sculpted cakes which are delivered and set-up at your event venue. Depending on the complexity, exceptions can be made for 1-tier cakes. Handling logistics are discussed and priced at inquiry/consultation.
What's your turnaround time?
Custom cakes require care, creativity, and undivided attention. They are not mass-produced store bought cakes, they are personalized and unique to each client, and as such, turnaround times vary depending on customization.
Need a quick turnaround? Same-day turnaround may be possible based on your order details, my availability, and if contacted between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM ( via text at 240.355.2710 ). Your order will be ready by/after 5:00 PM unless otherwise notified.
How soon will I need to place my order?
Our calendar fills up quickly so it is best to order as soon as you know your event date. We require a 50% non-refundable retainer to reserve your date and the balance is due at set-up and delivery. If your event is less than 1 month away, you can email or text an inquiry to check date availability. We have been able to make a cake with only a couple days notice, however, this is highly dependent on the complexity of your design and other logistics.
What is the best way to contact us?
The most immediate way to reach us is via text 240.355.2710. Emailed inquiries are also encouraged: marise@dmv-cakeart.com. Please share as many details as possible including any inspiration photos. The more information you provide, the better.
What are your business hours?
We do not currently have formal business hours as we work from a studio and not a store front. This offers a degree of flexibility and accessibility to our clients however, when I'm baking or shopping for ingredients I may not be immediately responsive. Rest assured your inquiry will be answered within 24 hours. Ideal hours to contact me ( via text at 240.355.2710 ) are between 5:00 AM - 7:00 AM.
